Chicken Parmesan Bake

Chicken Parmesan sounds great until it's time to bread every piece and clean up the frying mess. This baked version gives you the same flavors with a few easy layers in a 9x13 dish. Thinly sliced chicken breasts get covered in jarred marinara and mozzarella. Then a buttery topping of Italian breadcrumbs (or crushed croutons) and Parmesan goes on top. Pop it in the oven and get the rest of dinner ready while it bakes. Serve it over spaghetti with extra marinara, or with a green salad and garlic bread. It feels like a little extra effort, even though the prep is easy.

Simple Ingredients, Plenty of Flavor

Jarred marinara keeps this recipe easy, so use your favorite. Mozzarella adds that melty cheese layer, while the Parmesan gives the buttery topping extra flavor. Italian seasoned breadcrumbs or crushed croutons both work for the topping—use whichever you have on hand.

Tips for Making This Bake

Use thin chicken breasts. Keep them similar in thickness so they cook evenly.

Arrange the chicken in a single layer. This helps each piece get an even coating of sauce, cheese, and breadcrumbs.

Mix the topping well. Stir the breadcrumbs with the melted butter and Parmesan until evenly coated.

Check for doneness. Bake for about 30 minutes, or until the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F.

What to Serve With It

Serve this chicken Parmesan bake over spaghetti with a little extra marinara, or pair it with a green salad and garlic bread. Roasted asparagus or green beans make an easy side, too.

It’s a cozy dinner that feels like a little extra effort, even when you’re keeping things easy.
